One can almost feel the heat in this desert near the town of Sorbas in the province Almería in Spain. Because the landscape and climate are similar to the landscape in the Southwest of the USA, some western-cities were built here in the 1960 's, where spaghetti-westerns such as ‘The good, the bad and the ugly' or 'For a fistful of dollars' were filmed. Here you will also find the underground caves of Sorbas. They are located in the nature reserve ' Karst and Yesos the Sorbas ', a few kilometres outside the town. The caves, with precipices, stalactites and stalagmites, were created by water erosion. 1500 Caves are mapped over an area of 12 km2, one of the largest cave networks in Europe. In the summer there are guided tours.
